Art in the heart of Montjoie

The Domaine de Montjoie exhibits nearly 200 contemporary works of art on a permanent basis (painting, sculpture, photography, etc.) highlighting many regional and national artists. The works adorn the buildings, the rooms and the park, in order to arouse the curiosity of the traveller.

Do you want to buy a work?

Most of the exhibited works are available for sale at the workshop price (without margin). We can put you in touch with the artists, the purchase of the works of art is then made directly with the artists. A certificate of authenticity of the work will be delivered to you by the artist himself at the conclusion of the sale.

For more information, you can inquire at the reception.

Putting down their bag filled with the material concerns of everyday life, each visitor to Montjoie benefits from the open-mindedness offered by the work of our former architects, builders and landscape gardeners and can then open their minds to the cultures of the world.

Hubert FaureFounding President of Domaine de Montjoie

The exhibited artists at Montjoie

Most of the exhibited works come from the FACTO Collective, comprising some twenty visual artists from Toulouse, who have decided to come together and pool their ideas and know-how. Their objectives: to be fully in line with the current artistic field, and to establish a bridge between so-called Neoclassical Art and so-called Contemporary Art. Other independent artists have gradually joined the Domaine de Montjoie gallery.

Trained in artistic ironwork as well as artistic and cultural professions, Farid Achezegag naturally turned to sculpture. Nourished by the universe of American comics, mythologies, inspired by César and Palolo Valdès, he chose steel as his favorite material. Pebbles gleaned from the seaside and rivers were quickly added to the latter. His characters made up of multiple pieces are similar to three-dimensional puzzles. Today, he divides his time between his sculptures and the construction of sets for the Capitole theater in Toulouse.

Françoise ANGIBAUD devotes herself to painting after a career in haute couture which has become a second passion for her. Self-taught, she attended workshops in Toulouse: Kraft, Les Artistes Occitans, Atelier M. Coste where she learned figurative art. From her job she keeps the assurance of the gesture, the sense of shapes and volumes. She paints as she speaks, with joy, warmth and spontaneity. Through his paintings, we find his passion, his creative energy and his talent as a colorist.

This triptych of cotton organdy panels was made using the Japanese hand-painted techniques of katazome, tsutsugaki and sugaki. These freehand and resist dyeing techniques involve, among other things, the use of stencils and a cornet to apply a rice paste to the textile before painting in order to trace part of the patterns. "La Fleurée" designates the state in which the indigo pigment of the pastel forms on the surface of the dye tank after stirring.

One fine morning in March 2019, Jean-Louis Capou wakes up wanting to paint. Since self-taught, his "vibratory painting" is born with a palette made up of primary colors. His paintings are executed in acrylic with a knife and / or spatula mostly in the fresh, allowing the viewer to be fully guided in spontaneity by gesture in space and time. Traces, shadows, imprints and juxtaposition of several spaces that fit together and thus give you access to other dimensions. His work is open to any interpretation, to any sensation. And you... What do you see?

Kellestom, painter, graduate of the Beaux-Arts in Paris: the discovery and observation of cities and people around the world constitute a constant source of inspiration. For her, Art is a vector to another dimension, a way to bring out the underlying reality, dormant behind appearances. She likes large formats and collages of matter and she is passionate about light and movement. What fascinates her the most is the energy emanating from the human presence. It is in a process of sharing and exchange with the public.

"Don't tell my mother that I'm a painter, she thinks I'm a court lawyer... I hijacked this quote from a famous publicist, just as I like to hijack construction signs, break codes even if they are civilians. »
Jean-Louis LEVY found in painting his field of maneuver. He can give free rein to his imagination by using all the techniques. His mediums are canvases, site panels and all kinds of materials...paint, old newspapers, cement and unusual objects that he hunts for in flea markets...just for the pleasure of creating freely!

NABARUS art is protean. Several ways come together, in the form of series which are all facets of a blossoming talent. The houses, the engravings, the paintings, the monotypes, are created with the concern, for each of them, of exploring in depth a technique until finding all the meanings it can produce. What is striking about the artist is that his passion is embodied both in the themes and in the techniques, each feeding on the other to produce the work.

A plastic painter close to the earth sensitive to the environment and its link with humans. Humanist and philosopher apprentice and in search of relevance. A gourmet of wonder... While continuing the quest for the pulse that drives us, in connection with tactile sensations, she maintains a close relationship with materials and works with hands or fingers in color, digging, scratching the matter. Layer after layer, it veils then unveils, leaving plenty of room for repentance, like a trace of history in its tangled impulses and doubts.

Her pictorial universe is dark and rough, disturbing, brutal, frontal, highlighted by a graphic writing made of scrapings, scratches or incisions with a cutter. The pastels are pressed and crushed, symbolizing heaviness, hard-to-remove oil stains. His characters are ghostly and strike the eye with their insistence. They question. Painting is for her another way of saying things, a freedom of being. Where words fail, painting expresses itself. Her pictorial approach is part of an emotional contemporaneity.

A woman from the south, Géraldine AURET lives in Montpellier. After a rich and dense professional career, she now devotes herself to her artistic creation with her “Collections G.”. The G.'s represent intense femininity and sensuality. The pure and strong colors exalt the motif and give it a posture, a meaning, a real sensuality. "My painting is the translation of my spirituality, my emotions and my loud and strong love of life."

Like Picasso or Dubuffet, Gérard BOGO renews reality in its permanent nature. His gaze on women is closely linked to a fractured, recomposed, broken drawing while retaining a major aesthetic line. Figurants of abstraction, profiles, reflections or shadows, women with haughty looks, riders of time, are the result of a loving work of drawing and its perspectives.
However, Gérard BOGO does not forget the Flamboyant. Let's color the life of our sculptures! An escape of colors in the phenomenology of the imagination.

With her H2O series Isabelle Chapelain tackles the question of transmission, a theme that is very dear to her. Family transmission of course, but also transmission in the broader sense: what have we received, what have we sown, what will we leave to future generations? The circle is the symbol of this reflection. It is the link in the chain, the link between the past and the future, the eternal restart.

Having a structured, geometric approach, her work sits on a texture with an omnipresent organic tendency. The arrangement of lines, colors and reflections generates a feeling of calm. The black diffused in the whites, the bright red, the blue or the yellow bring to the perception a necessary depth of field.
Her singular and atypical journey is only the reflection of an introspection, an inner look, a vibration of the soul. Freedom again...

Whether it represents Horse Power, Goûter à la liberté or the Habit does not make the monk, the work of the painter Rolf Saint-Agnès clearly announces the colors: those of pop art and its holy trinity Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein and Keith Haring. For a decade, he made the Big Apple his adopted city and pop art his artistic religion. Over the years and his travels around the world, the artist's brush has become unique. If pop art still permeates his art, it does not alienate a very assertive personality. One could compare his work to the ship of the Argonauts. Constantly refitted, the ship no longer retained a single original plank but remained the same as itself.

He started photography in 2007 and, very quickly, his inspiration turned towards enigmatic atmospheres. In 2009, the discovery of exploration photography (exploring places built and abandoned by man) was a revelation. He has always been attracted by the notions of traces, of memory, and it is by pushing the doors of certain abandoned buildings that he discovered singular atmospheres, charged with emotions and poetry. The photo then takes on its full meaning. It is a memory and a tribute, the transcription of the unique story that each place whispers to its gaze...

A poetic abstraction...
For O.J. Vincent, it is a question of bringing out of the canvas the poetic, sensory or spiritual dimension of everything that connects us to ourselves and to what surrounds us. Prioritize the vivid expression of emotions. And give all its place to the imagination. Giving substance to our inner voices and revealing their musicality, catching dreams in full flight and trying to capture their impalpable reality, undertaking the crossing of appearances and questioning, down to the tiniest... For him, each work is an Elsewhere embodied.

Pierre DESENFANT is the Founder of the contemporary art gallery ART4YOU. He deepened his knowledge by following a course on “aesthetics and ethics” at the Sorbonne PARIS. He seeks to provoke a raw initial emotion before it turns into a waking dream over the interpretations of pictorial details. His painting, freed from a figurative context, participates in the creation of a language where lines and shapes are emancipated from reality to create a dreamlike universe.

Michel Gallot is part of the contemporary abstract art movement. His style is
pure and sharp, in the constant search for the perfect line. Most of the time he improvises and favors spontaneity. He paints randomly and more or less figurative elements appear. The encrustation of arabesques made with a knife airs his canvas, gives it a perspective and a depth that break and disturb the logic of the gaze. Silhouettes take shape, urban landscapes, suspended in time, appear in compositions that are alternately abstract, figurative, or aerial. His artistic sense, in the wake of abstract art, becomes a universal language.

Universal vibrations at the Trace: an approach that is both intimate and global revealed
by gesture. A spontaneous Art in search of harmony. He is in constant search of the ultimate "gesture", in a quest for different, personal and intimate traces, which nevertheless resonate at the heart of a universal Whole, leading him towards a desire for communion and spiritual elevation. The main thing is the power and purity of intention. If the momentum is good, the vibration and the trace will be beautiful. Everything is subtle energy.

Based in Lanta, in the suburbs of Toulouse, Steliana MOCANU is a discreet artist of great humanity. His painting bears witness to this, not being able to help but noticeably include the presence of man in his abstract work. Joyful Shadows, which his colorful palette of his paintings, combined with a solid sense of construction and light, affirm as high quality work. Originally from Romania, she presents a universal, almost magical lyrical work, bringing the viewer to reflection before this metaphorical world... In short, an art of living like a sweetness.
